Bill Richardson Announces His Education Plan, Pledges to Scrap No-Child Left Behind

Governor Richardson yesterday became the first Democratic candidate for President to publicly support scrapping the No Child Left Behind law, the much derided Bush administration initiative that reduced funding to local schools for not making "adequate yearly progress" by improving test scores. The Governor spoke at New Hampshire high school where he also announced the details of his education plan.

"Some say fix it; some say tweak it; Senator Hillary Clinton says reform it,'' Richardson said, according to a transcript provided by his campaign. "I also have two words for No Child Left Behind: 'Scrap it.'"
